Meaghen Buckley (she/they) (MA, RDT, CCC) is a dramatherapist practicing in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal. They studied dance, linguistics, fine arts, and a somatic practice called Open Source Forms before training in drama therapy at Concordia University. Meaghen pursued further training in play therapy, Neuro-Dramatic Play, and the trauma resolution therapy Somatic Experiencing. They are a graduate of the Institute for Developmental Transformations, and DvT is one of the anchoring practices in their clinical work. She has been involved in the community as faculty for DvT Montreal, in the Quebec Drama Therapy Chapter, and most recently as the Canadian Representative to the NADTA Board (2021-2023).
Meaghen has worked clinically in community, school and private practice settings with children, adolescents and adults, and is currently studying couple and family therapy at McGill University while completing an internship in Child Psychiatry. Their creative research interests centre on interactions between experience and representation, body and language. Their drama therapy research, teaching, and supervision is focussed on theorizing embodiment in an applied clinical context to support drama therapists in articulating and deepening their understandings of clinical practice.
