About me
Amanda Sasser, a graduate student at Kansas State University with a BFA in Theatre Design from Baylor University, has an extensive background in design, costuming, and textile arts. She currently works in south Texas. The presentation, Costuming in Drama Therapy: Design, Build, Mend, Heal, covers a portion of her thesis, which explores utilizing elements of technical theatre in drama therapy. "I believe the use of technical theatre practices, such as those used in costuming, can be implemented in many different theoretical approaches as well as with diverse populations. The concept is influenced by my time working backstage in various roles. My research into the subject spans drama therapy, art therapy, clowning therapy, play therapy, individual and family counseling, neuroscience, and technical theatre (specifically costuming)."
